Introduction to Rainwater Harvesting (RWH)

"Collecting water from your roof and storing it in underground tanks/storage isn't only called THE Rain Water Harvesting. It's a lot more than that !!"

What is Rainwater Harvesting ?
Rain water harvesting is the method of collecting rain water by different methods and making them used for different purposes. Rain water harvesting is not a new topic to anyone. It has a great history. From very past people used to collect rain water in houses in pots, making ponds, wells etc. Science and technology has made it more advanced, easy and efficient for collection of rain water. Many houses, industrial estates, commercial areas, public property and educational institutions have been doing rain water harvesting with new ideas and technologies.
Mainly Rain water harvesting is mainly done in two ways. One is the traditional method of direct collection of water from rain and second is making water infiltrate underground and preserve it underground for future use in the dry season. The latter is a new and demanded process of harvesting rain water.

Importance of Rainwater harvesting
i)   It is clean and free.
ii)  It uses simple methods and is acceptable by society.
iii) It reduces flood and runoff volume.
iv) It is very essential for recharging the ground water and maintain the constant Ground Water Table.
v) Water can be used for various domestic and commercial use which depends on the area of harvesting and method of harvesting.
vi) It saves water for the use in dry water underground.

Scope of RWH
RWH has a wider area of scope. A house, a society and a country can be benefited with this technology for lifetime. It's importance doesn't limit to the maximum use of rain water harvested from the roof in the wet season but also, it provide an amazing guidance to save the overflow of water into the ground and use that water in the dry season.
It can be summarized as:
i)   Use of water for household purpose
ii)  Challenges to install RWH in modern houses
iii)  Saves a good amount of money i,e, economic
iv) Construction of water recharge zone, pits, wells etc.
v) Methods of filtration and treatments in both residential building and recharging zones.
vi)  Withdrawing ground water easily, effectively for the dry season.

What is lift Irrigation System ?

Lift Irrigation System is a mechanical way of irrigaing the higher level land which cannot be irrigated by gravity water. Different structures like canal, barriage, cross drainage structures etc. are built due to which the land lower than the dam level could be easily irrigated but the land higher than the dam level always got dry and bare. So, this system is introduced so that the higher level CCA can also be irrigated and productivity can be increased.

How the system runs ?
First, dam or weir is constructed for the collection of water. Then by the help of pumps, water is transported to the top of the higher level land and stored in main delivery chamber (water storage). From there water is again pumped to irrigate the land or crops. Generally, pipes are layed underground from where plants get water continously at the required rate which can be controlled as per necessity.

Lift Irrigation System

Advantage
Higher Level land can be irrigated.
Water loss is less like evaporation loss.
Land acquisition is less.
Less number of manpower is required.

Disadvantage
Pumps of high capacity is required as per the altitude difference which needs high energy.
It is costly method of irrigation.

What if BLOOD GROUP is visible in facebook ?

Facebook has1.65 billion monthly active users. It has reached almost every countries.
Facebook has launched the LIVE Streaming facility.
Now, I desperately want LIVE GROUP VIDEO CHAT in facebook to come in near future.

But before that, Facebook should think on visibility of BLOOD GROUP of the users. There is no field in profile, overview or about section where a user can input his/her blood group. There are so many facebook groups which has been helping in blood donation with the help of status or post at the critical stage. So, if Blood group is visible to anyone, it would be very easy to ask and donate as there is already the contact no. visibility in Facebook.

How can this be done ?
First, Facebook should provide a section in profile details where user can input his/her blood group.
Second, putting a small icon in profile picture and if it is hovered or clicked, it shows four basic thing
1)Name
2) Address
3)Phone no. and
4) BLOOD GROUP of the user.

(But its not compulsory. If a user doesn't want to show his/her number or address or blood group its fine. They can hide them.)

For example Like this :

My profile with a new property

I think this will be helpful to everyone. Hope Facebook will understand the importance of this feature.

Beside this I desperately want GROUP VIDEO CHAT though it is available in some apps and skype.
Thanks.

If you think its good, share it !!

Rainwater harvesting-Solution to water crisis

Rain water is the purest form of water though rain water are not well considered as a source of water in modern society. Rain water can be harvested very effectively and in good amount during wet weather. The water so collected can be used for sanitary, washing , cooking and even drinking after treatment.
This project aims to find the recent practices of rain water harvesting in Kathmandu Valley. Also it aims to find the possibility of rain water harvesting in modern houses, problems in doing so, calulation of the water volume per household, storage and treatment procedure of rain water and recommondation at the end.

Top five powerful leaders of the world

The world is lead by some of the powerful leaders. Directly or indirectly every activity happening in the world are under their control or let's say under their influence. Resources, energy, war, peace, culture, arms and ammunition etc are mostly affected by these people.
The top 5 powerful leaders are:

1) Vladimir Putin ( President of Russia )

As far as I know him ,he is the most strict, honest and powerful leader of the world. I had watched one of his video in which he scolds the higher level officers in such a way that they did the biggest crime. For providing service to the people and making Russia as a developed nation, Putin has done a lot of things in short period of time. His national and international stratities are far straight and his action in the war against ISL proves that. When Obama and Cameron were busy in talking and planning, Putin was the first to order bombing in the ISL camps.
Due to his vigorous nature and outstanding serviceability to the people, He occupies number 1 postion.

2) Barack Obama ( President of USA )

Any president of USA are powerful, its like universal truth because USA controls most of the countries in the world. Obama became more powerful and he got a strong recognition when his mission to kill Bin Laden was successful.
Also he is more popular among majority of the people who are of medium and lower class. His foreign policy to Iran and middle east countries are more dominating, let's say middle east is far more dependend on USA. His war against ISL and Afgan terriorist is still on though he has withdrawn most of his army from middle east.

3) Kim jong-un ( Supreme Leader of North Korea )

He is youngest powerful leader. The development of North Korea has reached a new level. Also in terms of arms and ammunition, North korea can give a good fight against USA, Russia etc. He is so brave that he denies the order of USA, Russia or even UN. Though UN has done blockade against North Korea, development of nuclear energy hasn't been stopped or there is any sign of controlling it.
He murdered his own uncle for being on power. This shows that he can do anything for power and country. He is young at one hand and on the other hand he is unique in doing the work.

4) Narendra Modi (Prime minister of India )

The newly elected PM of India is not much powerful then the above three in terms of development and arms but as he is one of the icon in south asia which governs around 35% of total population. Modi most comes at 4th position.
He is more energetic and stratigic leader. He has started different developmental programs all around the world mainly targetting Indian investment. He has called all the developed countries to invest in India. So due to his convincing nature, the world is attracted towards him and India. Also the south asia is more effected by his decisions and politics.

5) Aung San Suu Kui ( Leader of Burma/Myanmar )

She is powerful with her worlds and service that she provide to the people. She is well known to the world. She was put on jail by the opposition, though she didn't lose hope and she is continuosly fighting for the right of people and development of country.
Most people say Clinton as powerful female leader but I think Suu Kui is an inspiration to all the females of the world. She is indeed one of the best leader of the world.

What after Initial layout ?

Many people will say me that its easy to show on map but its hard to do in ground.
Here I say, without a map its impossible to even start.

Upto now for the 5 phase study I used google earth to locate the approximate pipe route. There is no calculation of slope, altitude difference and pressure variation, storage calculation etc.

For the next step I will be studying the initial design in detail. I won't be able to visit the site or pipe route on ground though I will be doing this by excessive use of Google earth and GIS.
Followings are most necessary for the productive output:

1) Locating exact pipe route/ centerline of pipe on map
2) Calculation of slope and altitude
3) Calculate pressure difference from one station to another
4) Findig out the obstacles in the route
5) Environmental consideration
6) Calculation of storage and distribution
7) Preparing a Final design

Please, ask me the questions about this project so that I can make more study, generete more ideas and make it more effective.

Radhe Radhe Building Observation

On the date 2073-2-24 we (me and Apil dhungle ) visited the  tallest and one of the well recognized building of bhaktapur i.e. radhe radhe building.
We have two purpose of visiting the building. They are :
1) For fun and experience of climbing the tallest building
2) To obeserve the building closely (about its construction, affect by earthquake and inside work)

1) Fun
It was so nice to climb the building and reach at the top. It might take around 2-3 minutes to climb the building without taking rest but we took rest, capture some photoes and just observe some of the inside work of the building.
Here are some of the photoes we took:

2) Observation of the building
Some of the points we noted after the observation are as follows:

i)  The wall of the building are severly damaged by the earthquake. The outside and the partation              walls have large diagonal cracks which must be rebuilt again.
ii)  The columns and beams are not damaged by the earthquake so the building is safe for further               construction.
iii) The inside work are not yet finished. Lots of wall are still to be made and some of the walls are           only plastered.
iv) The width of staircase is so small. Its because of lift facility which is again not so big (approx.             around 10 people at a time).
v)   Probably the shorter building is made for making Mall and another building is for apartments.
vi)  The construction has stopped due to illegal issue, road issue and also due to                        eathhquake damage.

Waste management in Kathmandu valley 1.03

I am continuously giving good time on the study of solid waste management in Kathmandu Valley. In these process I am on the third step of my study i.e. to find out the actual truth and hidden story about the recent practices of solid waste management.

Today dated 2073-02-24, I tried to observe the waste management in Bhaktapur district.
First we (Apil Dhungel and me) went to Radhe radhe in the Nepsymak Private Limited to find out some information.
Then we went to Nepal Fulbari Prasdhusan Niyentran Private Limited at Kausaltar where we had a phone talk only. I will be visiting the office for more data of that office.
All the information will be included in the final report.
But what amazing thing we discovered was, we have the system of segregation i.e. the waste collected from your house doesn't directly goes to Sisdol, Landfill site, they get segregated and some recyclable waste are seperated manually. The only thing we lack is the system and making it possible in huge quantitiy, huge area and with combined effort.

Happy with information collected from Bhaktapur!! And at the end of the day we figured out the basic practice of managing solid waste in Bhaktapur !!
Cheers everyone !!

Me after collecting data and informations

Initial Design/layout of Petroleum Pipeline

Finally I have made a simple layout of THE petroleum pipeline. Remember, its a petroleum pipeline not the gas pipeline.
In this simple layout/design the pipeline construction is divided into 5 phases which should be constructed one after another.

Phase 1 (Raxual to Amlekhganj)
It is said that upto Raxual(Bihar), there is pipeline of petroleum. From there the pipeline should be constructed upto Amlekhganj. It should have been Heatauda instead of Amlekhganj but due to high settlement and also an industrial area, Amlekhganj is the better choice for the station 1.

Phase 2: Amlekhganj to Kathmandu
In this phase the pipeline will reach to the kathmandu from Amlekhganj. Kirtipur will be the best place to construct station 2 (main station ) with all the components of pipeline system.

Phase 3, 4 and 5
In these phase petroleum pipeline  will be constructed upto Itahari, Pokhara and Birendranagar respectively as shown below.

Overall pipeline network of Nepal

Finally the petroleum pipeline network all over the nation looks like this :

At last
"YES, I HAVE DREAMED IT.

What is Politics ?

I define politics as a game.
Yes, its a game which defines the country and shows the right or wrong ways of change. Change can be of two types. One is the positive and another is negative. Positive change leads towards the development, prosperous and happy life while negative change leads towards undevelopment and degraded life.
Many youths don't think much about the politics neither they like to talk about it. Its because the culture of politics is so bad. Politican has certainly played the game but the game has become the unhealthiest one. People and youths have nothing to expect from politician. Simply they ignore them and say "LET THEM BE" and "LET THAT BE".

But, politics is so powerful. Politics is not the thing to be defined by politician its to be designed by people and citizens. So, its the time to wake up. Every youths and people should focus on the very small to big problem of the society and start to solve them precisely. Its the time to collect and use the resources wisely. Its the time to make new reasearch in different topics inside the country and search for the possibility of different things. If anyone does these things and come out with the solution, that certainly shows the right path to the society. Then he/she is a leader.
Every society has a leader hidden or being hided by specific people. So, those leaders should come out and show the excellent way of progress and change. This will creat some hope among the people, youths and citizens of the country. Lets do it together.
YES WE CAN !!!
