Earthquake Safety Day 2073

Khwopa College of Engineering (TU) and Khwopa Engineering College (PU) jointly organized the three days program on the occasion of Earthquake Safety Day (2nd-4th Magh). Mass rally, model competition, photograph and slogan competition etc. were mainly included in the program.

Model presentation was done in Datattre, Bhaktapur where 40+ models related to earthquake were presented. Chairman of Nepal Majdoor Kishan Party, Mr. Narayan Man Bijukchhe was the chief guest of the program.

The model presented by me and my group was entitled " Dharahara will Rise Again".

Basic Idea of our Model:



Some of the models presented were as follows:

1) 1st prize winner: Exposed Foundation
  They tried to show the foundation of Pach Talle Mandir, its history, materials used in constructions and reasons its still standing in both the biggest earthquakes of 1990 and 2015.

2) 2nd Prize Winner: Soil Amplification
 It showed the difference of earthquake vibration and its effect on different kinds of soil. This was research based model in which soil sample of 3 places were brought and tested to compare the results.

3) 3rd Prize Winner: Bamboo Reinforcement
 It explained about the use of Bamboo as a reinforcement material like we use steel in these days. It is fast, cheap and last for more than 40-50 years.
