A Good site for a reservoir should have the following characteristics:
- Large Storage Capacity
- Suitable site for the dam
- Water tightness of the reservoir
- Good hydrological conditions
- Deep reservoir
- Small submerged area
- Low silt inflow
- No objectionable minerals
- Low cost of real estate
