We (Me and Harry B.C.) started the tour early morning at 8 a.m. We took bus from Gatthaghar and headed towards Barabise. There wasn't a single empty seat but fortunately cabin was empty. We travelled upto Barabise sitting on the cabin. On the way we were surprised to see the scale of Jiri Landslide which actually is much bigger than what we see on TV and paper.

It was 11 when we reached Barabise Bazar. We had MoMo in nearby hotel. Then, we went to Sanima Hydropower. Its around 1 km downstream from BaraBise Bazar. We went inside the powerhouse, enjoyed some moment near the sunkoshi river and we walked upto the dam of the hydropower (3km upstream ).

My tour to Sindupalchowk wasn't only to visit the hydropower but it was also to see the reconstruction work in the villages of Sindupalchowk for my next video project. So, we walked uphill for 1 hour and reached Palati Village (my brother's house) and stayed there that night.
Early morning we went to many houses, saw the condition of the school/colleges and I made a conclusion......( will show them in the video).
Then, at around 10 am, we were already down at Barabise Bazar. We quickly got a bus heading Kathmandu and we didn't miss that bus. We got down at Ziro Kilo and what a coincidence, we again catch the bus which was just leaving for Melamchi. We had thought of eating something at Ziro Kilo before heading towards Melamchi but it didn't worked as per plan. We reached Melamchi at 1 PM.
We ate chowmin in nearby hotel and went to the Melamchi Drinking Water Office for getting permission to go in construction area/inside tunnel. They didn't issued us anything neither they reacted to our request. Also, we found one interesting thing that Tunnel is around 22 KM away from Melamchi Bazar. It was already around 2 PM and we still have hoped to be back to Kathmandu on the same day.
We had some discussion and called our Geology Sir (Nirmal Kafle). He managed everything for us and we were 100% sure that we will get chance to observe Gyalthum Tunnel (middle of three tunnels).
Then we went to main tunnel area at Ambathan, Timbu (25km away from Melamchi Bazar, 2 hour on bus) hoping that we will get chance to observe the dam construction area. We stayed in a hotel there. It was fine, in such a remote place.

Early morning at 7 am we went to the construction area and we were shocked to see the security there. There were armies and polices with guns standing at the entry. We talked to safety engineer to let us inside but he convinced us that going to construction area isn't possible.
My reaction to the safety engineer ..Ambathan Sucks !!!!! |
Then we returned back to Timpu Bazar, picked a bus and come down to Gyalthum. We walked for 45 minutes to reach the Gyalthum Tunnel area. Senior Geologist Mr. Rajendra Bhatta welcomed us and we visited the tunnel area. Due to security issue, we were only allowed to enter 200m inside the tunnel. He explained us everything about the tunnel and process of tunneling.

After obeserving tunnel we returned back to kathmandu safely !!!!!!
It was one of the most useful and adventurous tour I personally had till the date !! Wish to continue it........
