Earthquake is not a Natural Disaster !!

"Everyone of us know Earthquake is a natural disaster but very few of us know actually it is not."
Is it a natural disaster ?
Yes ?
No ?
Yes ...

If not than what is it ?

To understand this we should know what is meaning of Disaster at first. After that we should find the perfect word to explain the earthquake.

So, What is Disaster ?
Disaster is a sudden happening or incident which causes huge loss of life and property. The word 'huge' plays a vital role in defining the disaster.

Then you might say, Offcourse due to  7.9 earthquake many houses were destroyed, many people died. Then isn't it a natural disaster ?
Well I still say , No it is not a natural disaster.
I want a couple of answer from you:

A earthquake in a Desert, is that a disaster ?
Or, A  7.0 RS earthquake in Japan, is that a disaster ?
No, they aren't.

Then, what is Earthquake ?
Earthquake is a natural hazard or natural process or simply hazard.

Confusion starts with two words Disaster and Hazard.
Well Hazard is something having potential to take life and destroy property, not necessary it should do.
Disaster is something that has to cause loss of life and damage of property.

So what is the point here is, earthquake itself is not a disaster, it is a natural hazard or natural process. Yes it has lots of potential of damaging or taking life ,but it is not necessary that it should do.

It's because of our wrong practices in building houses, road, bridge of any structures, earthquake becomes a disaster. From small age we  have been learning Earthquake as a natural disaster but it's the time we should change our mindset and believe Earthquake is not a disaster. Its just a natural hazard or process which cannot be stopped, it keeps occurring.

What we can do is we can prepare yourself, build the resilient structures and let the earthquake keep coming. We won't be affected and nothing will be destroyed.

So believe it , Earthquake is not a disaster it's we who make it a disaster.
